Road & Vehicle Safety
Approximately 1.24 million deaths occur on the world's roads annually. 20-50 million people sustain non-fatal injuries as a result of road traffic crashes. Around 260,000 of the deaths on our roads each year are children, and an estimated 10 million more kids sustain non-life threatening injuries. (i)
Road traffic injuries are the global leading cause of death for children 15-19 years, and the second leading cause of death for children 5-14 years. (i)
Here at the Safe Spot Foundation, we know that providing kids, teens, parents and professionals with current, relevant information about road and vehicle safety, we are doing something to foster a safer, smarter next generation - and that saves lives.

Road Safety Info For Children
We know how stressful it can be trying to keep your kids safe from the dangers of cars and roads.
Navigating busy streets, car parks and school zones can be a nightmare for busy parents with busy kids. We can hear you thinking "My kids know about road safety. My kids know to stay close by..." Of course we'd all like to think nothing will ever happen to our loved ones, but accidents do happen and nobody is exempt from danger. Therefore, we need to do everything in our power to protect those we love and to educate our kids AND give them an active role in their own safety.
So, to help make your job as a parent, guardian or professional easier, we've developed our very own educational safety resources which play a big role helping people of all ages and capabilities stay safe. Our resources give individuals a see-touch-do role in their own safety and the safety of others, and engage them on a physical and cognitive level, which fosters awareness of safety concepts and helps people becoming more aware of what is happening around them. And of course, they help to reduce the stress of parenting too. Now that's super hero cool!
Road Safety Info For Teens
So the thought of young drivers on our roads sends shivers down your spine? How can we teach our teenagers (and adult community members) to become more conscious of road safety and the dangers of unsafe driving behaviour? And what about distracted driving? You know - mobile use behind the wheel... what can be done to reduce the incidents of distracted driving and to make our roads safer for everyone?
Here's Some Cold Hard Facts
Did you know that distracted driving is the number one cause of pedestrian injury and deaths and is now the leading cause of accidents on our roads?
Did you know that 77% of drivers in Australia admit to using their mobile phone while driving? Now here's the really scary part - Every time you drive distracted - you're increasing your chance of having an accident by 400%. That makes you 400% more likely to kill the people you love - or somebody's friend or family. (ii)
It's time we got proactive and began working together as a community to combat road and vehicle incidents - and to protect our kids. it's time we taught our kids to value their safety on our roads, and teach them the benefits of becoming community educators.
That's where the Safe Spot Community Programs Can Help..
